Thanksgiving, when overindulgence is king and the shape of your waist line is least of your concerns because it’s all about having a great time with family and/or friends and enjoying the moment. One of the beauties of Thanksgiving are left overs. So if you are looking for quick and easy ideas on how to turn your left overs into a second thanksgiving feast without any effort, read right ahead.
Leftover cranberry sauce
Add extra:
- Puff pastry dough
- Camembert cheese
Place the puff pastry dough on a baking tray and cut it into squares (approx. 1.5 inches/ 3-4 centimeters) Cut the camembert in slices of approx. 1 inch/2.5 centimeter length and place the cheese on the dough squares. Add half a table spoon of cranberry sauce on top. Bake it in the oven for approx. 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit/175 degrees Celsius. The sweet fruitiness cranberry nicely compliments the cheese and thus makes for a very interesting experience for your taste buds as sweetness meets savory. Leftover turkey and southern biscuits
Add extra:
- BBQ sauce
Heat up the turkey meat in the oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit/175 degrees Celsius in a casserole. Add the southern biscuits for the last 5 minutes. Afterwards shred the meat into small pulled apart bits using two forks. Add BBQ cause and mix it well. Now cut or break the biscuit in half and fill it with the BBQ turkey for a delicious Pulled BBQ Turkey Sandwich.
Leftover vegetables and (sweet) potato mash with gravy (optional: leftover turkey)
Add extra:
- Grated cheddar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit/175 degrees. Place all the vegetables you have left over – like peas, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli or carrots – in a casserole and mix them up a bit. If you have leftover turkey, that you would like to use up, mix shred it up a bit and mix it in as well. Then pour any leftover mash over it, so that the vegetables are well covered by a generous potato layer. If you have sweet potato mash AND normal potato mash, mix the two together before adding it to the casserole. Drizzle the cheddar on top and let it bake in the oven for 20 minutes (25 minutes if you have a lot of vegetables in the lower layer or a lot of potato mash). While the dish is in the oven heat up the leftover gravy in a pan. Enjoy your Shepard’s Pie.
