Pull-apart pizza sticks – The soul food jackpot

Advertisements

These pull-apart pizza sticks are yet again living proof that pizza is full of innovation potential. Who said that it can only ever be flat and round? Like the amazing pizza tortilla rolls (check out my recipe here), they are super easy to prepare and yet give you a feeling of tasty comfort in a world full of chaos. Of course, let’s not forget about puffins either a.k.a. pizza muffins.

The pull-apart pizza sticks have a crunchy crust, just like we love it, and a soft cheesy filling. Which is always a great combo to have. The pizza sticks are also purposefully not overbaked with cheese to allow them to have this great crunchy texture.

This dish turns out to be one of those new faves in my family that makes an appearance whenever we come home from a very active day and everyone is starving, but no one feels energetic enough to properly cook. This is why I consider pull-apart pizza sticks to be the soul food jackpot.

  • Time from start to finish: 25 min

Ingredients

  • 1 readymade pizza crust (rectangular shape)
  • 7 ounces (200 ml, approx. 1 cup) of pizza sauce
  • 1 cup (225 grams) of grated mozarella
  • Approx. 3.5 ounces (100 grams) of thinly sliced pepperoni salami
  • Vegetarian alternative: 1 bell pepper

Preparation of pull-apart pizza sticks

Step 1: Place the regtangular pizza dough in front of you and cut it in two halfs.

Step 2: Apply the pizza sauce and then drizzle the grated mozarella on each half.

Step 3: Add the pepperoni on one half. I like to cut the pepperoni slices into smaller bits so it’s easier to cut the pizza into sticks.

Step 4: Flip the other pizza half over on top of the part with the pepperoni on it.

Step 5: Then cut the pizza in half along the long side with the pizza cutter. Then cut slices into the dough down the two pizza halfs. Now it comes in handy, if you cut the pepperoni salami into slices earlier as it makes cutting out the sticks easier.

Step 6: Bake the pizza in the pre-heated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit/200 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.

Enjoy your pull-apart pizza sticks.
